The 23rd judicial district includes Cheatham, Dickson, Houston, Humphreys and Stewart Counties.
NASHVILLE, Tenn. – State Rep. Mary Littleton, R-Dickson, extends her congratulations to Joshua Turnbow on his appointment to serve as 23rd judicial district circuit court judge.
Gov. Bill Lee announced Turnbow’s appointment Tuesday, and his term begins immediately.
“Ensuring speedy trials, accountability and justice for victims of crime means ensuring our courts have the resources they need to expedite cases. I appreciate Gov. Lee and the General Assembly’s recognition of this critical need in the 23rd District. Joshua Turnbow is an excellent choice and I look forward to continuing our work to find solutions that will enhance public safety across Tennessee,” Littleton said.
In April, the General Assembly approved legislation, sponsored by Littleton, creating Division IV in the 23rd judicial district and adding this judgeship to serve that court. The judge serves in all capacities – circuit, criminal, civil and chancery – including all domestic relations.
Before his appointment, Turnbow served as Assistant District Attorney for the 23rd Judicial District. He earned his bachelor’s degree at University of Tennessee at Chattanooga and juris doctor at University of Memphis Cecil C. Humphries School of Law.
The judgeship will be up for election in August 2026. The elected judge will hold office for four years, and in 2030 would be elected for a full eight-year term.
State Rep. Mary Littleton represents House District 78 which includes Cheatham and part of Dickson Counties.
