Washington County lawmaker honored with Award for Conservative Excellence
(NASHVILLE, Tenn.) — State Rep. Matthew Hill (R-Jonesborough) is the recipient of the Award for Conservative Excellence from the American Conservative Union (ACU).
This achievement honors Chairman Hill for his steadfast support of initiatives throughout the 2019 legislative session that have made crucial conservative reforms and that have enhanced Tennessee’s economic prosperity.
“I am honored to receive this prestigious recognition from the ACU for my support of common-sense legislation that has enabled our community and this state to continue to prosper,” said Chairman Hill. “I will never stop fighting for our citizens and supporting initiatives that enhance our business-friendly environments so this state can remain a model of economic prosperity, fiscal responsibility, and the envy of our entire nation.”
According to its website, the ACU believes that the Constitution of the United States is the best political charter yet created by men for governing themselves. It is the organization’s belief that the Constitution is designed to guarantee the free exercise of the inherent rights of the individual through strictly limiting the power of government.
