State Rep. Rusty Grills announces $2M for Tiptonville community center, baseball field renovations

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — State Rep. Rusty Grills, R-Dyer, announced $2 million in state funding was awarded for park renovations in Tiptonville.

The Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation (TDEC) will administer the grants through the Local Parks and Recreation Fund (LPRF), which was approved by the 113th General Assembly this year in the 2024-25 state budget.

“Tiptonville has needed a place for residents to gather for many years,” Grills said. “I look forward to seeing our new community center come to life and the improvements to the baseball fields. Congratulations to the city for receiving this funding, and thank you to TDEC for supporting our community.”

Tiptonville city leaders plan to use the grant award to renovate the Tennessee National Guard Armory into a multi-purpose community center and renovate the current baseball complex.

The baseball field renovation will include new lighting, fencing, skills building, renovation of the field’s crowning for water retention issues and resurfacing the parking lot.

The LPRF program provides state funding to match local government investments for recreation projects and the purchase of land for parks, natural areas, greenways and recreational facilities.

For more information on the LPRF program and how to apply, visit the Office of Outdoor Recreation website here.

Rusty Grills represents District 77 which includes Dyer, Lake and part of Obion Counties.
