State Rep. Sabi Kumar announces $65K grant award for White House park

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — State Rep. Sabi ‘Doc’ Kumar, R-Springfield, announced $65,000 in state funding was awarded for renovations at White House Municipal Park.

The Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation (TDEC) will administer the grants through the Local Parks and Recreation Fund (LPRF), which was approved by the 113th General Assembly this year in the 2024-25 state budget.

“Our local parks provide the community with numerous recreational opportunities to benefit their physical health and wellbeing,” Kumar said. “White House Municipal Park gives citizens a place to gather, play and enjoy the great outdoors. These renovations will improve the amenities for years to come and I can’t wait to see the finished product.”

White House city leaders plan to use the funds to build a 20-spot parking lot for the dog park, renovate the concession stand at the baseball/softball quad and add a shade structure with benches for the new tennis courts.

Renovations to the concession stand include getting the building up to commercial design standards, replacing the roof, storage space and a meeting room.

The LPRF program provides state funding to match local government investments for recreation projects and the purchase of land for parks, natural areas, greenways and recreational facilities.

Sabi ‘Doc’ Kumar represents District 66 which includes Robertson County.
