State Representative Chris Todd Elected To Serve As Assistant Floor Leader For 111th General Assembly

(NASHVILLE, Tenn.) — State Representative Chris Todd (R-Jackson) has been elected by his 19 freshman peers to serve as Assistant Republican Floor Leader for the upcoming 111th Tennessee General Assembly.

In his new position as Assistant Republican Floor Leader, Representative Todd will support the Republican Floor Leader with all duties and responsibilities and work closely with the Caucus Vice-Chairman on legislative issues. He will also serve as co-chair of the Candidate Recruitment and Development Committee, represent this large freshman class in leadership discussions, and relay all important information from leadership back to freshman members.

“I am grateful for the support and trust my fellow first-year colleagues have placed in me by allowing me to serve them as Assistant Republican Floor Leader,” said Representative Todd. “I look forward to working with our newly elected caucus leaders and our entire membership to further advance the priorities and protect the conservative values that matter most to our citizens. Together, I know our efforts will ensure Tennessee remains a model for our entire nation to follow.”

“Representative Todd is an effective leader in his local community and has proven he is ready to lead,” said Tennessee House Speaker-Elect Glen Casada (R-Thompson’s Station). “We are fortunate to have him in our caucus and as a member of our leadership team. I look forward to working alongside him, and I know Representative Todd will be incredibly successful in this important role.”

“Chris Todd is well-respected by his freshman colleagues and our House Republican Caucus, and I am excited to work with him,” said House Majority Leader William Lamberth (R-Cottontown). “I know Representative Todd will do a remarkable job serving our members, the citizens of his community, and our entire state.”

“The Tennessee House Republican Caucus is fortunate to have an incredibly gifted freshman class, and Chris Todd has already proven he is ready to be one of its leaders,” said House Republican Caucus Chairman Cameron Sexton (R-Crossville). “I am excited to work with Representative Todd, and I know he is uniquely positioned to help us better unify our membership so we can further advance our priorities.”

“Chris Todd has a remarkable work ethic, and his desire to serve his community, our state, and the House Republican Caucus is unmatched,” said Assistant Majority Leader Ron Gant (R-Rossville). “I am excited to have him on our leadership team and as a member of our caucus, and I know he will excel in this vital role leading our new members.”

The 111th Tennessee General Assembly officially convenes at noon on January 8, 2019.
