Tillis recognized by fellow House Republicans during Thursday’s session
(NASHVILLE) — State Representative Rick Tillis (R-Lewisburg) has officially passed his first bill in the Tennessee House of Representatives.
House Bill 85, which Tillis was asked to carry by the State Comptroller, reduces the size of government and also maintains accountability with state agencies. The bill will now travel to the desk of Governor Bill Haslam to be signed into law.
Representative Tillis was elected to the 110th General Assembly last November. House Speaker Beth Harwell also selected him to serve on the Committee to Report to the Governor earlier this year.
“I am excited to be a member of the 110th General Assembly and have enjoyed working with my Republican colleagues to enact laws that benefit our great state,” said Tillis. “It is an honor to have my first bill passed and an even greater honor to serve the people of Marshall, Franklin, Lincoln and Marion Counties.”
Representative Tillis is sponsoring one additional bill this legislative session. A Joint Resolution he recently carried that honors Eagle Scout Billy Lee Clanton was also signed by the governor.
Rick Tillis is a member of the House Business & Utilities Committee, as well as the House Agriculture & Natural Resources Committee and Subcommittee. Tillis lives in Lewisburg and represents House District 92, which includes Marshall County, as well as parts of Franklin, Lincoln and Marion Counties.
