(NASHVILLE) —State Representative Ron Gant (R-Rossville) and the Tennessee Department of Education today announced that Fayette County Schools have received district growth funding to support education initiatives in House District 94.
This funding is a direct result of a 2017 Republican-led effort by Tennessee General Assembly members to not only fully fund education in Tennessee but also provide $18 million to cover school district growth as part of Governor Bill Haslam’s Fiscal Year 2017-2018 budget.
These significant investments will allow many of our state’s school districts with soaring populations to maintain the resources that they need to continue offering quality education for our next generation of leaders.
“Since I was first elected in 2016, I have always kept education at the forefront of my platform,” said Representative Gant. “By ensuring our schools have the resources they need to educate our children, we are making a lasting investment in the future of our community.”
This funding has been so well received by parents, education officials, and teachers that another $18 million in growth funds has been proposed as part of the 2018-2019 fiscal year budget.
Ron Gant serves as the Majority Assistant Floor Leader. He is also a member of the House Health Committee, the House Insurance and Banking Committee, the House Calendar and Rules Committee, as well as the House Insurance and Banking Subcommittee.
