State Representative Ron Gant Passes First Bill In State Legislature

(NASHVILLE) — State Representative Ron Gant (R-Rossville) has officially passed his first bill in the Tennessee House of Representatives.

House Bill 306 cuts out government regulations and red tape by removing license requirements for small businesses. It was endorsed by the National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB) and will now travel to the desk of Governor Bill Haslam to be signed into law.

“Representative Gant’s legislation is the first substantive bill that has passed since last year’s enactment of the Right to Earn a Living Act,” said NFIB/Tennessee State Director Jim Brown. “This bill will scale back protectionism, as well as unnecessary bureaucracy and costs that inhibit job creation. NFIB looks forward to working more with Representative Gant, Governor Haslam’s administration and interested parties in cutting more red tape on small business next year.”

“I am pleased that this legislation removes the hurdles that hinder Tennessee’s small businesses and their employees from succeeding,” said Representative Gant. “House Bill 306 will lead to new job growth in this very important sector, and all of Tennessee will benefit.”
