Tennessee Capitol Report for May 21st Highlights the 2017 session of the 110th General Assembly including bills that Governor Haslam has signed into law

Memphis, Tennessee, May 17, 2017 – TENNESSEE CAPITOL REPORT concludes its third season as a 30-minute show on Tennessee’s Public Television stations this Sunday. Shot on location at the State Capitol in Nashville, the show offers in-depth interviews and behind-the-scenes video covering Tennessee’s Legislature.
This weekend, airing on Sunday morning, May 21st, the program highlights the 2017 session of the 110th General Assembly and several bills which Governor Haslam has now signed into law. Featured on this episode are:

  • Sen. Mark Norris, (R-Collierville), Senate Republican Leader – Improve Act
  • Sen. Bo Watson (R-Hixson), Chair, Senate Finance, Ways & Means Committee – State Budget
  • Sen. Mike Bell (R-Riceville) – Broadband Access
  • Rep. David Hawk (R-Greeneville) – Broadband Access
  • Sen. Jack Johnson (R-Franklin) – Pre-emption of Local Drug Possession Decriminalization

Also on the show is a feature segment about the resolution calling for the removal of President James K. Polk’s tomb from the capitol grounds to his ancestral home in Columbia, TN. The resolution passed the Senate in March, but the House has postponed consideration to January 2018.
