NASHVILLE, Tenn. – State Rep. Todd Warner, R-Chapel Hill, and Sen. Shane Reeves, R-Murfreesboro, announced today that Lewisburg will receive a $450,000 Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) grant from the Tennessee Department of Economic and Community Development (ECD) for sewer system improvements.
“Upgrading critical infrastructure like our sewer system will benefit residents and businesses in our community,” Warner said. “I am thankful for this funding and appreciate those who worked to make this investment in Lewisburg possible.”
The funds were awarded as part of a $28.5 million grant improvement package announced by Gov. Bill Lee and ECD Commissioner Bob Rolfe to assist communities with infrastructure improvements, housing rehabilitations as well as health and safety initiatives. In all, 62 Tennessee communities were awarded grants through the program.
“This funding will go a long way toward upgrading critical infrastructure in Lewisburg,” Reeves said. “I’m grateful for the partnership of local officials in getting this done.”
The allocation of CDBG funds is based on priorities set through the public meeting process at the local community level. The CDBG program is funded through HUD and administered in Tennessee by the Department of Economic and Community Development. Funds are available for water and sewer improvements and new extensions, housing rehabilitation and health and safety projects.
