(NASHVILLE) — State Representative Curtis Halford (R-Dyer) today announced two Solid Waste Recycling Grants totaling more than $61,000 from the Tennessee Department of Environment & Conservation (TDEC) for Carroll and Gibson Counties.
Specifically, Carroll County will receive $32,351 for a recycling truck. Additionally, Gibson County was awarded $29,500 for a used oil transport trailer, used oil collection tank, used oil storage tank, and a used oil heater.
The grant for Carroll County is supported by the Tennessee Solid Waste Management Fund, which is administered by TDEC in partnership with the Tennessee General Assembly. Funding for the Gibson County project originates from the Used Oil Collection Fund, which receives its revenues from a fee collected against every quart of oil sold. Both grants are part of a broader initiative to encourage and promote community recycling projects in an effort for Tennessee to further reduce landfill waste.
“I am grateful to Commissioner Martineau and TDEC for their investment in our communities,” said Chairman Halford. “These funds will help us enhance environmental safety and protect the quality of life for our residents. We must continue to support programs and invest in initiatives that enrich the well-being of our local citizens, as well as those across our state.”
