(NASHVILLE, Tenn.) — State Representative Matthew Hill (R-Jonesborough) today encouraged Washington County citizens to support TN Promise students by becoming a tnAchieves mentor.
With the mentor application deadline later today, Representative Hill is hopeful his community will meet its overall goal of supporting 150 Class of 2019 students from Washington County. As of November 27, 136 local mentors had already been recruited.
“Our tnAchieves mentors play an integral role in the success of our TN Promise students because these dedicated individuals help prepare Tennessee’s future leaders for the next phase of their academic journey,” said Representative Hill. “This is a unique opportunity for our residents and our community to get involved and have a lasting impact on our students.”
According to its website, tnAchieves is the partnering organization to the TN Promise Scholarship in 84 of 95 Tennessee counties. It exists to increase higher education opportunities for Tennessee high school students by providing last-dollar scholarships with mentor guidance.
