(NASHVILLE) — State Representative Tilman Goins (R-Morristown) has received the distinguished National Association of Secretaries of State (NASS) Medallion Award from Tennessee Secretary of State Tre Hargett.
The NASS Medallion Award allows individual Secretaries of State to recognize outstanding service and dedication to furthering the mission of the association within each state. It was created to honor individuals, groups, or organizations with an established record of promoting the NASS’ goals in one or more of the following areas:
- Elections, with a special focus on voter education and participation.
- Civic education, including the teaching, promotion, and study of this subject.
- Service to state government, specifically as it relates to the duties of the office of the Secretary of State.
- A commitment to giving – a business or individual whose philanthropic contributions have significantly enhanced the quality of life in a local or regional area within a state, or within an entire state.
“I’m honored to present Rep. Tilman Goins with the NASS Medallion Award. I appreciate his leadership on a number of initiatives, including garnering support for the new Tennessee State Library and Archives which broke ground last fall. The citizens of Hamblen County should be proud knowing they have such a dedicated public servant representing them in the Tennessee General Assembly,” Secretary Hargett said.
“It is a tremendous honor to receive this prestigious award and to support the work of my friend, Secretary Tre Hargett,” said Representative Goins. “As an elected official, I pledge to continue partnering with our constitutional officers and my legislative colleagues so that together, we can better address the needs of our citizens and maintain Tennessee’s economic growth and prosperity.”
