State Representative Ron Travis Announces Grants For Fall Creek Falls & Spring City

(NASHVILLE) — State Representative Ron Travis (R-Dayton) today announced that both Fall Creek Falls State Park and Spring City have been awarded grants by the Tennessee Department of Environment & Conservation (TDEC).

Specifically, Fall Creek Falls will receive a $100,000 Recreational Trails Program (RTP) grant to be used for the resurfacing of the lake trail along the lakefront at the park, upgrades to parking, as well as improved accessibility. The park will match the remaining portion of the grant to complete the $125,000 project.

Additionally, Spring City will receive a $29,644 RTP grant for phase one construction of the Veteran’s Lakeside Greenway project. This includes the conversion of an old highway bed into a multi-use trail, as well as enhanced accessibility. The city will provide a $7,412 funding match to complete this project.

“I appreciate TDEC’s investment in our communities, and I know this important funding will have a tremendous impact on the health and well-being of our citizens,” said Representative Travis. “I am grateful to Director Parish, his staff, and Deputy Governor Jim Henry for supporting our region, and I congratulate our local officials for their efforts securing this funding.”

The RTP grant program is federally-funded and was established to distribute monies for a wide range of recreational trail projects. Additional information is available by clicking here.
