State Rep. Bryan Terry encourages Rutherford County residents to vote in state and federal general election

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – State Rep. Bryan Terry, MD, R-Murfreesboro, is encouraging Rutherford County residents to make sure they vote in the Nov. 8 state and federal general election.

“In the words of former President Thomas Jefferson, ‘We do not have government by the majority. We have government by the majority who participate,’” Terry said. “This still rings true today and we need folks with our shared values to vote.”

Early voting in Tennessee began Oct. 19 and goes through Nov. 3. Election Day is Nov. 8. Voters will need to bring a state or federal government issued ID with them in order to cast their ballot.

Only 14.5% of the 202,603 registered voters in Rutherford County participated in the state primary and county general election in August, according to data from the Rutherford County Election Commission.

While in office, Terry has sought to make it easier for residents to cast their ballot by getting legislation approved that created a pilot program for convenient voting centers countywide.
