Legislation seeks to create jobs and lower taxes
This week, State Representative Ron Gant (R-Rossville) introduced House Bill 1042 in the House Finance Committee.
HB 1042 is a tax recommendation from the Tennessee Advisory Council on Intergovernmental Affairs (TACIR) allowing for business-owning professionals to use their professional privilege tax as a credit towards their business’s franchise and excise tax.
“I am honored that TACIR has trusted me with this important legislation,” said Representative Gant. “After speaking with a multitude of small businesses in my community, I’ve realized how burdensome our tax code can be for businesses. I trust that the passage of this legislation will allow for small businesses to flourish so they can keep creating jobs for Tennesseans.”
This legislation affects the state’s budget, thus it now awaits consideration and debate through the budgetary process. You can read the full text of the bill and track its progress at: http://wapp.capitol.tn.gov/apps/BillInfo/Default.aspx?BillNumber=HB1042&ga=110.
